Artists from all over the country were invited to explore the idea of “wide open” in all the hidden niches of our collective psyche. Wide open spaces…arms wide open…eyes wide open…wide open to attack…wide open to a lawsuit...wide open to corruption…what kind of phantasy phrase is this? What does it really indicate?

The question was answered by the 1583 submissions received, one from as far away as Kailua, Hawaii.

And to whittle the entries into the 147 pieces in the exhibit, BWAC was pleased to have three accomplished and prestigious jurors. Ann Strauss, Associate Curator of 19th Century and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Mark Hughes, Director of Gallerie Lelong in Chelsea, and Bill Murphy, Gallery Director of Wagner College.

$1750 in prizes were awarded - the $1,000 Best in Show for Revelation to Leah Yerpe (of Brooklyn!), the Curator’s Choice award of $250 went to Max Rodriguez for Drifting Away and Eric Pesso and Craig Cheply were the tied People’s Choice(s).
